HowWeCanHelp.

Is a consultation with an AEP (Accredited Exercise Physiologist) right for you?

There are numerous compelling reasons to seek the expertise of an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). Often, individuals receive referrals to an AEP following a diagnosis of a chronic health condition by a medical practitioner.

These conditions may encompass:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Pulmonary disease
  • Metabolic disease
  • Neurological disease
  • Musculoskeletal disease (including arthritis, osteoporosis/osteopenia, acute and/or chronic musculoskeletal issues)
  • Pre-surgery conditioning and post-surgery rehabilitation
  • Muscular discomfort in areas such as knees and backs
  • Depression, anxiety, or other serious mental illnesses (such as PTSD and schizophrenia)
  • Cancer

Accredited exercise psychologists can assist with:

  • Assessments of functional capacity
  • Guidance on lifestyle modifications to enhance health status
  • Prescriptions for exercises to bolster strength and function before and after surgery
  • Evaluations of workplace functional readiness.

What qualifications do AEPs hold?

Every AEP possesses a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, complemented by postgraduate clinical qualifications. They continually engage in professional development and adhere to a strict code of ethics. Additionally, they are registered with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA), the governing body for this profession.

AEPs are experts in anatomy, biomechanics, human physiology, and the management of chronic diseases. Their status as registered Allied Health Providers means they are recognised by Medicare and Private Health funds.

“Great experience would recommend.”

Lina Birkenhead

“It is great having the camaraderie of the group.”

I have been attending the Logan Council gym at Crestmead for the best part of a year now.

Signed up with exercise physiologist Jessica along with my partner and son. Jess has looked after our exercise programs in a friendly efficient manner. We all are reaping the benefits. There is plenty of parking at the gym and the equipment is well maintained.

We attend a group session each Monday. It is great having the camaraderie of the group.
